Great song from a guy I’d never heard of before, but who has just about my same last name! Sweet.
Arthur sez: “Here’s the opening track off the new Wayfaring Strangers: Lonesome Heroes compilation, put together by the friendly cats at America’s most consistently high-quality ‘lost music’ record label, Numero Group of Chicago.”
I just discovered that you can now connect your Twitter account with your Songkick account to send updates about shows you’ve been to and which you intend on going to.
This is pretty rad and reminds me a lot of the functionality that I love in Foursquare. Instead of tweeting 'yo! I'm at so and so show' - why not ping Songkick where you'll get show photos, details and more AND update your Twitter status all at once.
When is Songkick gonna get an iPhone app is the question… probably next?
“I am not sure how long the ’shelf life’ of an aesthetic/genre/band is supposed to last. Once you have a ‘fan’, will that fan buy something from you for the rest of his or her life? I wonder if a chillwave band will ‘release’ a video/single for one of their 2k9 songs in 2k13. Really ‘baffled’ that Ed Banger is ‘back on the scene.’ I think it is generally a ‘good thing’ for music websites to have a 6 month turnover on a genre, so that ‘we’ can appear to always be on the lookout for something totally new and different. I just wish more blogs and music site zines would be willing to ‘throw artists under the bus’ and ‘act like certain artists never existed.’ It’s okay to be ashamed of who u used to be. Distancing urself from bands that u used to like is ‘just part of growing up’ in the modern world.”—HipsterRunoff asks: Would u bet on a ‘Blog House Revival’?
