I often wonder what it must be like to be an indie band in Hawaii. Where do you tour? Obviously not as simple as hopping in the ol’ beater van now, is it?

I came across Honolulu’s Clones of the Queen because band member Paul Bajcar is on Tumblr and blogged about a sweet fan letter. Their music takes chilled out coldwave beats and synths and adds singer Ara Laylo’s rich, full vocal. Its an interesting combination, unexpectedly meditative and vibrant. Kinda like Hawaii itself.
