Zula - Grind is a Shuttle
Brooklyn-based band leader Nate Terepka tells me their sound seeks to “communicate the message ‘aah! shit is fucked up! look at how fucked up it is! How can we work to construct value/meaning/worth in this world?’, and we like filter sweeps, breakbeats and minimal hypnotic spaces.” However, I’m not sure I hear such a nihilistic bent as much as I do a feet-on-the-ground observation of our existential condition. That, however, it probably entirely too deep a thought for pop music, so I’ll go ahead and stop myself from saying all that and let you listen to the damn song yrself.
Look for a new record this summer, but in the meantime, catchup on their last Crescent Intake Session EP from whence this comes. You’ll also wanna dig your teeth into the new track “Nine Twenty Four” - I just couldn’t help but blog the older song first.
