Cases in Which I Will Buy New Vinyl
- I hear a song that rips my heart/mind out and lays it bare to the sun.
- I’m in a spendy mood, and listening to a decent new album with a big ‘BUY NOW’ link.
- I’ve heard a band’s great single on a blog, and am halfway through listening to the second, even better, single.
- My dear friend recorded/produced/sang backup/played harp/etc on a good record.
- I feel tempted to buy a record first digitally for whatever dumb reason.
- Everyone is going apeshit over a new Best New Music record, and yeah, it’s fucking tits.
- Said BNM record is available for pre-order in colored vinyl, LTD packaging.
- I’d probably end up playing it for my grandkids.
- My dear friend is running the label from their bedroom.
- I’m at an up-and-coming band’s show, and the band has vinyl at the merch table and I can have them sign it.
- I’m at a show for a good band and the opener blows my mind and they have merch.
- The record shop set a sweet album on the features rack.
- I’ve given myself a ‘strict’ budget before entering said record shop. #FAIL
- It’s Record Store Day and my budget is decidedly not ‘strict’.
- I’ve listened to a record 10+ times on Sptfy/Bndcmp/Sndcld already and this is getting ridiculous.
- An artist I’ve been crushing on starts a crowdfunding effort to get on wax.
That about covers it. Sufficient, anyway. What about you? What prompts you to buy music on vinyl?
