Random thought: Some bands create far better graphic design/style/photos than they do music. And vice versa, other bands make superb sounds, but have such terrible overall aesthetic. Is it rhetorical to ask which is worse?

  1. caffination answered: is it too much to ask that the two types find each other and help a buddy out? I’ll tune your guitar if you uninstall COmic Sans from my comp
  2. antibromide answered: It’s worse to have bad aesthetic - people will judge that first and not give the music a fair chance.
  3. smarterthanyouraverageblair answered: No, sir. In your definitions, they seem different. Plus, you have to account for poor management vs. artist aesthetic.
  4. o-song answered: Bands mostly don’t create artwork. Bad artwork usually means they don’t know graphic designers, and don’t have the money to hire one.
  5. hobart answered: i’ve always wanted to be in a band for the aesthetic side
  6. keithbirthday answered: unecessary
  7. lylynn answered: Pretty much.
  8. ellachalmers answered: This is the same to me as saying is a person’s personality or looks better. Of course personality is more important, but looks sure do help.
  9. loveislies answered: sound > look
  10. infinitetimecapsules answered: It’s all about the product. As a consumer I value the music more. A label may not care what’s being sold so long as it’s selling.
  11. saladfork answered: I don’t care what the album cover looks like if they have a good sound. ‘dont judge a book by its cover’
  12. sniffed answered: Some bands create terrible graphic design/style etc. AND make play terrible music at the same time.
  13. jaredcovington answered: Pre-internet, sounding great and not having a great image was a major issue, but now, I think that it’s reversed…
  14. rikaru reblogged this from yvynyl and added:
But… Fashion music (visual aesthetics over sound) made today can be crap next week,
  15. brilliantlydifferent answered: dang. bad music i think x
  16. brianmlatimer answered: The point of being a band is to make music, and make it as well as you can.
  17. rikaru answered: Yes…
  18. abloodymess answered: there are shitty painting with amazing frames all over the place. frames are great if you make frames. painters should care about the paintin
  19. coolthingsifind answered: Bands should be bands, graphic designers should be graphic designers.
