Jeepneys - Lamka Lamsa
There’s something disarming about the weird work of experimental artist Anna Luisa Petrisko. A kind of celebration of a dystopian future, an hommage to the devastation to come. She says the term lamka lamsa “describes a method of time traveling to the past in order to enjoy one’s ancestral practices. For example, going back in time to enjoy foods that you and/or your grandmothers used to eat but do not exist anymore in the future.”
Here she uses footage shot in the Philippines - Manila, Cebu, and Bohol - and greenscreens herself onto the landscape doing future-yoga. Doesn’t look half bad, this dystopia.
