Indie Band Nude Beach Killed By Its Own Facebook Page

I guess it might be the fact that anything with the word ‘nude’ in it will be spammed, marked as spam or generally pissed on by weirdos from around the globe, but Dan Svizeny (also in Cough Cool, Blackhawks) was just lamenting to me that the project is breaking up due to, at least in part, having a Facebook Page that’s “more popular than the actual band.” And he doesn’t mean that in a good way.  

“We wrote the best ‘beachgaze’ song of our generation, then called it quits. I’m kidding, we kinda sounded like shit. But when we looked at how our Facebook Page got a life of its own and turned into this weird nudist dating site for people too stupid to realize we were a band… I guess that just put the nail in the coffin. We got tired being a magnet for creepy bros penis posting.”

Nude Beach leaves behind one sold-out cassette EP release on Bathetic Records called Slut Club and a forthcoming 7” from Group Tightener Records that, as Dan puts it, will serve as their “Greatest Hits”.
