LoneDoe - Marion
I’ve been listening to the tracks that Englishman James Smith has been sending me over the past few months, but this new beauty really stood out. As he wrote me a pensive email at 2am on the night of his 30th birthday this summer, ”[my songs are] a reflection of the choices I’ve made and those I didn’t make. A feeling of tearing up and forgetting certain aspects of my past and starting again.
“Maybe it’s the age I’ve turned that has provided me with a sense of beginning a new chapter of my life. Maybe I have, in some way, come to terms with what I am. A husband, a father, an adult (!) and it is now time to embrace these responsibilities, these opportunities and shed the ephemeral skins of my youth. I don’t know. Sometimes you can read too much into a song.”
I understand the sentiment, James. Get this on his new Marion EP over on Bndcmp.
